Obituary of Pierre Williams

Pierre Williams, 93, passed June 27 into the loving arms of his wife, Marietta, 88, who passed on November 23, 2018.  They knew each other all their lives but didn’t marry until December 2014.  They were neighbors growing up and played in the sandbox when they were toddlers. Pierre was born in Trenton, graduated from Trenton Central High School. He graduated from Utah State University where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering.  However, he was also taking courses because he loved to learn.  Pierre is predeceased by his parents, Clement and Fernande Williams, his brother and sister- in-law, Ron and Peggy Williams.  He is survived by his niece, Marybeth Williams of Levittown, Pa and great nephew Joshua Williams of Virginia Beach, VA.  Marietta Burnett, 88, of Lawrenceville, was born in Trenton, graduated from Trenton High School.  She is predeceased by her parents, George Burnett and Lilly Fenner, her sister, Dorothy E. Payne, a nephew John Veres and a niece Valerie Veres; a brother, Donald Burnett. Marietta is survived by a nephew, Keith, her great niece and her husband, Cherrie and Chris Webb, great, great, nieces Kate and Erin Webb of Maryland and several cousins.  Perre held licenses in Commerical lst Class Radiotelephone, Commerical lst Class Radiotelegraph (radar endorsement) and Radio Amateur (advance class).  He served as a Radio Officer in the U. S. Maritime Service  and was Chief Electronic Technician in the U. S. Coast Guard. Pierre was presented with the Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal.  As an electronic technician at the Plasma Physics Laboratory at Princeton University, and where he worked on Modal “C” Stellarator in controlled fusion of Hydrogen.  He retired from RCA.  Marietta, worked in the financial office at John Roebling and retired from Cyanamid. Pierre was always tinkering with something.  He enjoyed being an Amateur Radio License Operator and shared this love with his wife, Marietta Burnett.  Mr. Williams had his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying.  He also loved taking his friends out on his boat. Pierre served in the United States Coast Guard.  They both were members of the United Presbyterian Church in Yardville. Marietta was very active there and loved singing in the choir.  In fact one cruise vacation, she let the group in singing during a Talent Show. She always was a member of the Toast Masters Organization.She chaired many flea markets, craft events and loved visiting the shut-ins.  She was also a Camp Fire leader. Marietta took wonderful care of our Aunt Grace in later years who was blind and living alone.  Both Marietta and Pierre suffered from Dementia Alzheimer and they resided at the Alzheimer Community at Brookdale Hamilton, where they received outstanding care.  Every day is an opportunity for Brookdale associates to deeply connect with people in a profound and personal way.  They provide comfortable lifestyles and caring environments, with opportunities to improve wellness, fulfill lifelong wishes, and stay connected with friends and loved ones. Getting older doesn’t mean the options for enjoying life have to shrink. Brookdale’s philosophy is that we’re all aging, but that should never keep us from living.  Thanks to Brookdale Hamilton for the respectful care of Pierre and Marietta.  Their cousin, Linda J Savadge took care of them as they struggled with this ailment.  Their longtime friend, Joe Bruno visited them twice a week in Brookdale along with Linda.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11:00 am at Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 465 Paxson Avenue, Hamilton, NJ 08690.   A private family burial was held. In lieu of flowers, donations can made to the Brookdale Hamilton Dementia Alzheimer Community or United Presbyterian Church in Yardville, NJ.
