Obituary of Anthony Chianese
Anthony W. 'Tony' Chianese HAMILTON TOWNSHIP Anthony W. "Tony" Chianese, beloved Pop, passed away peacefully at his Hamilton Township home on Oct. 8, 2016, with family members at his side physically and in spirit. He was 95. Tony was a lifelong resident of Trenton and Hamilton and represented honesty, sincerity, humility, generosity and gratitude to all he knew. He was dedicated to family unity and inspired everyone with his simple approach to life, his friendly nature and his amazement at the miracles that happen every day to us all. Tony delivered bread for the family business, Economy Bakery. He became a master carpenter and built strong homes, including his own in Hamilton. He retired from De Laval Turbine Company. He loved building and fixing things all of his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, godfather and friend to many. He had a magnetic personality. Tony had a love of playing piano to accompany his singing family - a skill which he passed on. He had an innate love of learning and always encouraged family to listen to others. He loved classic films, particularly musicals. Tony had a strong commitment to exercise, even at 95. He was an avid swimmer and used life as a platform for all forms of physical activity. He was a proud member of the 2006 Hamilton Senior Citizens champion bocce team, The Terminators. Pop felt deep satisfaction in working the soil at his home garden and sharing the results of those efforts with family and friends: arugula, zucchini and his prized world-class tomatoes. He was a passionate gardener. Love was always shared with family over good Italian meals and picnics. He showed his constant devotion and support to his family's interests in music, business, dance, travel, sports and military service. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne Rose Manganelli Chianese; his parents, Assunta D'Angelo Chianese and Angelo Chianese of 48 Bayard Street; his brothers, Leo, Pat and Joe Chianese; and by his close companion of many years, Mary Bender. He is survived by his children, Ange Chianese, Chris (Elaine) Chianese, Mick (Cindy) Chianese and Lilia (John) Friel; grandchildren, Julianne (Paul) and Beatrice Wiesner-Chianese, Aiyana Bailin, Loretta Chianese, Alicia and Anthony Sciscio; sisters, Lena Esposito and Sue Garzio; sisters-in-law, Louise and Jane, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
