Obituary of Nicholas Ciufi

Nicholas A. Ciufi III Educator, known for his willingness to help others Nicholas A. Ciufi III peacefully met his Creator on Oct. 15, 2016, joining his parents, Nicholas and Elizabeth Ciufi (nee Savini). Born on March 31, 1946, and raised in Newark, N.J., Nick was involved in local politics and civic activities throughout his life. He devoted his career to education, serving as a high school teacher, vice principal, and counselor at Irvington High School. Most recently, he served as a consultant to a federal task force on risk allocation strategies in public-private partnerships. Through his generous spirit, Nick helped many people long forgotten by society. He is survived by his sister, Livia Oddo, brother-in-law, John, two nieces, aunts and an uncle, and numerous cousins who will all miss his kindness, sage wit, and willingness to help the less fortunate. He will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are private at the request of the family.
